The Locked Room — Part 2
Three days after Riya disappeared, police sealed Aranya Villa.
The lake behind the house was searched, but nothing was found — no body, no belongings, no trace. Only silence.
Journalist Aanya came to investigate. She had followed many missing cases, but this one felt different. Locals whispered that the villa “took people at midnight.”
At 11:55 p.m., Aanya entered the locked room with a recorder in her hand. The air was icy. The mirror stood exactly where Riya had seen it.
On the floor, faint wet footprints still remained.
Aanya placed Riya’s laptop on the table. When she opened it, a half-written document appeared — titled “The Truth I Buried.”
The words typed themselves:
“If you are reading this, I am already gone.”
The clock struck 12:07.
Suddenly, the lights flickered. The rocking chair began to move again. In the mirror, Aanya saw not herself — but Riya, standing behind her, drenched and trembling.
Aanya turned. No one was there.
Then she heard a soft voice from the lake outside:
"Help me… bring me back."
Aanya rushed downstairs and ran toward the water. The surface was still like glass — but beneath it, a pale hand pressed upward.
She dropped the recorder into the lake. Instantly, the water rippled violently.
Back in the room, the mirror cracked on its own.
On the wall, new words appeared in dripping water:
“ONE RETURNS. ONE REMAINS.”
At dawn, villagers found Aanya standing at the lake shore — soaking wet but alive. She said only one sentence:
"Riya is still there."
That night, at 12:07 a.m., lights in Aranya Villa went out again.
And from the lake, a woman’s laughter echoed through the darkness.
