The Locked Room — Part 3 (Final Twist)
That night, Aanya returned to Aranya Villa.
She carried a small lantern, Riya’s diary, and a single red ribbon — the one found near the lake years ago.
At exactly 12:07 a.m., the locked room door opened by itself.
The mirror was clear now, but the rocking chair moved slowly. From the lake, soft splashes echoed through the walls.
Aanya read aloud from the diary:
“The lake does not drown you. It remembers you.”
Suddenly, Riya appeared — not as a ghost, but as a reflection that stepped out of the mirror. Her eyes were calm, but her feet dripped water.
Aanya tied the red ribbon around the chair and whispered, “I remember you.”
The room trembled. The lake outside began to glow faintly. For a moment, Riya smiled — almost peaceful.
Then the mirror shattered.
When dawn came, villagers found the villa completely normal. The locked room was empty. No wet footprints. No diary. No mirror.
But at the lake’s edge, two red ribbons lay side by side.
Aanya was gone.
On the villa wall, one last message appeared in faint water stains:
“SOME STORIES RETURN. SOME NEVER LEAVE.”
And every night at 12:07, the lake still whispers Riya’s name.
